What’s behind the start, success and slip-ups of Extinction Rebellion, one of the most important social movements of our time? In 2019, when Extinction Rebellion impressively blockaded the City of London in the name of protecting the climate and all life on earth, very few thought their resolve would force the British government to act against climate collapse. The movement, now with supporters and autonomous branches across the world, acts on the principle of civil disobedience and non-violent resistance. The film sheds light on how this type of activism works and on the British government’s reaction. It also uses the stories of Roger Hallam, one of the movement’s controversial founders, eventually voted out of the group, and his daughter Savannah Lovelock, in order to show how deep commitment to a cause can overflow into activists´ personal lives.
